Kyla

This is a post about our Beautiful daughter Kyla!

Kyla is 6 now, and in 1st grade. Her favorite subject is Art. She is a very talented artist. She truly does draw better than I do. Yet she won't do it on demand. She can sit a draw in detail very cute stuff, but if I ask her to draw something, she won't take as much time and won't go into detail. She is having a difficult time adjusting to the strictness of First grade. She is very social and loves to talk to everyone.....all the time. But that is her one downfall, when I ask the teacher why she doesn't mover her away from the other kids the teacher says she leaves Kyla where she is because she is a little helper, she reads instructions to the other kids and explains problems that they don't understand, and that is worth the talking.

She is one of the best readers in her class and is reading above her level. She is getting E's in all of her subjects and is going to be tested for Gifted and Talented the next testing. She is now in an enrichment program since the Gifted and Talented tests only twice a year.
She has lost her 1st tooth and is exceptionally proud of that fact! Most of the kids in her class have already lost one or more of their teeth and she was feeling left out.
My friend told me of a website icaughtthetoothfairy.com where you can get pictures with the toothfairy. With promo code of fairyproof
.
She is taking gymnastics, and dance. She LOVES dance, and tolerates gymnastics for her Daddy and Mommy. They seam to think it is good for her coordination, flexibility and strength.
She is going thru her preteen stage right now, and sometimes can be very sassy! She has also cut her hair for the 5th time. I don't think she has EVER EVER had hair that is all the length it is supposed to be. One day her hair was up in a half ponytail and she couldn't get the rubberband out. SO she cut it out, along with 1/2 of the ponytail! now she has a nice short ring around her head, and of corse it is the top layer of hair. Practically impossible to hide. The shortest part of her hair being only 2 inches long, right on top.
She is a very good friend, and makes friends easily, yet she has had trouble on the bus with teasing. One girls in particular teases her because she sucks her thumb. (well I know she shouldn't and we can't seem to get her to stop) but the teasing went on and the girl punched Kyla in the face. Andrew was furious and wanted to go "talk" to the girl on the bus. Thankfully the bus driver handled the situation.

She is a HUGE help with Becky, often changing her diaper and clothes and rescuing her from dangerous situations. Most of the time her and Breven get along very well.

What a delight she is to have in our family!!!
We love our KYLA RAE!

ah... summer fun

So we got a little waterslide for our back yard. It was fun, but no to fast, and Kyla, while she could get to the end, usually didn't make it all the way. So to add a little excitement we put it at the end of our slide for our playground, put water on it and tadah, a waterslide. It was actually pretty fun to go down.

the perfect picture

Have you ever taken about a million pictures of a totally cute outfit and didn't get even one the does it justice? Thank goodness for digital camera's! But I did get a few cute ones.

Rebecca Lynn turns ONE!

Becky has been a very welcome addition to our family! This last year with her has been amazing. Kyla and Breven think the world of her, and enjoy playing with her.

She is starting to talk now, Momma, Daddy, some form of Kyla, bye bye, uh oh, all done, and hi (in a voice that totally cracks me up) are a few of the words she uses.

She is deffinatly walking now, and trying to run. She loves to take things and take off with them, thus the running. well it's actually like fast motion falling down a lot because when she tries to run she just trips. She can also climb on to our couch, and Brevens bed. I am not sure I like this so much as she still has no respect for the drop offs. Taking into account her new ability to walk and climb, her poor face has bruises all over. She gave herself a bloody nose yesterday when she failed to put her hands down fast enough. Poor girl.

She loves being outside and tries to escape every time the outside door opens. The other place she absoutly loves is the fridge. She LOVES to be in the fridge, and I don't mean just looking in it or playing in it, she wants to be IN the fridge. If she is in the kitchen you had better be quick if you want be in and out before she get there. Even if she is in another room, she hears that fridge open and she comes a-runnin.

She had her doctors appointment today. She isn't a big fan of the office. She started screaming everytime anyone came into the room.

She weights 19 lbs
She is tall 29 1/2 in tall
She is in the 25% all around.

Well Happy Birthday Becky!

Kyla's school birthday

So If your birthday is in the summer, you get to pick a day to bring cupcakes for school. Kyla chose Becky's birthday as the day to bring cupcakes. I let her pick out how she wanted her cupcakes made. She picked apple cupcakes for her classmates, and ant cupcakes for the teachers. Slightly backwards I think, Apples are usually for teachers. Oh well. Here are some pictures of her cupcakes. I think they turned out well.

It just cracked me up

So yesterday as we were eating dinner, we all heard Becky doing something funny under the table. As we were all distracted with watching her, Kyla, the little sneak, swiped Brevens fork and says, "Breven look, your fork turned invisible!"
"What?" Breven exclaims, "I can't see it" and begins to feel all around for his invisible fork.
(any one remember the invisible toy I looked for?)
I don't know why, but this just cracked me up. I could not stop laughing.
After a little bit we had to ask Kyla to make Breven's fork reappear so we could finish dinner.
But just so you know, when you are with Kyla, watch out for things that turn invisible.

And that's just how we roll

We now have the bikes to go on rides as a family and have every keep up.
So we went on our family bike ride to a park just up the street. It is a new park so the information on the trails is slim. So we just decided to take one and enjoy a ride. It was an easy ride.....or so we thought. As we started out the trailer stayed on the trail just fine, even if it was a bit rocky. But as we kept going, the trail kept getting smaller. Half way through the loop ( or so we thought ) it was only wide enough for one bike, we were just going to keep going instead of turning around. It wasn't so bad, yet.
After we passed the first small boulders and large rocks known as the rock gardens we weren't sure we wanted to keep going on the same trail but didn't want to turn around to go past them again so we just kept going. Surely it wouldn't get worse. But it did, and each time we would say to ourselves, we are more than half way there, we don't want to go over that agin, and it can't be worse. Funny, it did get worse. It got to the point the kids were bouncing all over the trailer, and thankfully laughing, every once in a while one side of the trailer dropping 3 to 6 inches off a rock as we struggled to get past the next rock garden. The very last part we ended up getting off our bikes, leaving one behind as we pulled the bike and kids up about a 35 degree hill. The bike being so heavy in the back that the front tire came off the the ground and it was all I could do to keep it going up the hill instead of rolling back down on Andrew. Our trailer ended up with two flat tires and the bolts holding the bike seat on were gone when we got back to the car.
It was so fun! Crazy I know but it really was an adventure.

The set up

Every once in a while, Becky had to turn around and say hello to everyone.

There were so many flowers all around It was really really pretty!!!

In one of the good parts of the trail. Even though it wasn't wide enough

A video of one of the rock gardens we went though.

A little hike.

San Antonio has a lot of state parks and other natural areas around here. So while Andrew was gone on a meet we found a new one and took a little walk.

Brev found a tree and climbed it himself.

The kids were pretending to fall down the hill. Very convincing!

Rain!

Did you ever love playing in the rain as a child? Well the other day we had a LOT of rain, so we had a river for a street and a lake for a field. It really was raining hard. Hard enough the water came up over the curb and into our lawn. And what did we do about it? Well we played in it!

this is what Becky's tounge usually looks like! Isn't it so cute?
